2 1/2 oz dark chocolate, broken into squares
3 TBL sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 c milk
1/2 c cream
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat gently--stirring frequently--till the chocolate is completely melted (no flecks on the spoon). More or less sugar may be added depending on the brand of chocolate used and personal taste. Serve warm, with optional whip cream or marshmallows. Serves 3-4.
This is based off the recipe for Hot Chocolate from the book "Chocolate" by Trish Deseine, which I HIGHLY recommend to all chocolate lovers, but not to all allergy sufferers. I dearly miss some of her recipes that have eggs in them.
